Want some lemonade?
The saying goes… when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
We’ll start off with the obvious. Fire sucks!
But it is also a time of rebirth!
A few recommendations regarding fire…
1. Make sure everyone gets out safely!
2. Have fire insurance.
3. Have more coverage than you think you will need.
4. Hope and pray that you never have to use it!
For those of you unfamiliar with the eight-year history of Mountain Provisions, the short version is that it has been a bumpy ride!
The longer version is a story that goes back over a decade. Back then I was happily working at a different outdoor retailer in Ashland with plans to purchase the business. Given that Mountain Provisions happened, that clearly didn’t work out. On Memorial Day weekend of 2016, Mountain Provisions opened its doors for the first time with hopes and dreams. Six months later nearby construction boarded up our storefront for almost half a year. Two summers of smoke, a winter that didn’t happen, two years of COVID, the Almeda Fire, and a fire in our building forced Mountain Provisions to close its doors two weeks short of our six-year anniversary until the smoke settled and we could figure out the next step.
Well, that next step is finally here. We have a new location:
357 E Main Street, Ashland, Oregon 97520
It is a much bigger space that will allow us to expand our selection, broaden our rental offering, and offer more services.
You’ve been out adventuring. We’ve been adventuring. Send me your glory photos. Let’s tell stories, let’s reminisce about past adventures and plan for future ones. Let’s do this!!!
We’re so looking forward to seeing you! Some cool new stuff came out in the past couple of years but that is the nature of this industry. There is always cool new stuff coming out. That is why you come to us. We want to geek out with you and hopefully turn you onto some things you may not know about yet. That said, we’re not here just to sell you stuff. We’re here to get you appropriately outfitted for your next outing. We’re a small, but knowledgeable staff of outdoor enthusiasts who get out there to play at every opportunity. We can then draw on that experience to help make sure you’ve got what you need.
We’re currently tearing walls out, building new ones, and trying to figure out where everything is going to go once it gets here. Ursa misses you, so come say hi!

Bryant Helgeland is the owner/operator of Mountain Provisions in Ashland. Active in several outdoor sports (Telemark skiing, XC Skiing, Road and Mountain biking, Hiking, Backpacking, Kayaking), he has been a seminar speaker on many of those activities.
